 Technology Classes at Norfolk Public Library

Computer and Technology Classes @ NPL

Norfolk Public Library offers computer and technology classes that are free and open to the public. Class topics range from the basics of computer use to various computer programs and software, as well as training and demonstrations of NPL's eBook collection with a variety of devices. Most classes are two hours in length, but actual time may vary depending on the subject, class size and student participation.

Registration is required for all classes and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Call the library location offering the class to register. Please check class prerequisites before signing up.

To avoid disruption, small children are not allowed in the class. Please arrange for their care during class time.

  • Introduction: This seminar provides an introduction to the technologies and processes shaping the 3D printing revolution.

This seminar provides an introduction to the technologies and processes shaping the 3D printing revolution. Studio staff demonstrate how Slover Library’s two Ultimaker 2+ 3D printers transform virtual models and raw materials into physical objects. During this seminar, attendees learn how to prepare their first 3D prints, including where to locate models on websites such as Thingiverse, basic techniques for using slicing software such as Cura to adjust print settings, and how to estimate printing time and material use. Attendees may submit their 3D models for printing at the discretion of studio staff for a small fee.
