2nd Annual LGBT Film Festival

NORFOLK, VA – Norfolk Public Library is joined by Hampton Roads Pride, PFLAG, and the LGBT Center of Hampton Roads as well as Naro Video in presenting the second LGBT Film Festival this May. Five films will be shown over the course of two days. All movies will be shown at Slover Library (235 E. Plume Street, Norfolk). Admission is free.

Saturday, May 20, 12 noon: Wilde (R)
The rise and fall of the literary Oscar Wilde, from celebrated London socialite to banished pariah.

Saturday, May 20, 3pm: Reaching for the Moon (NR)
This sumptuous '50s period piece recounts the years of Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Elizabeth Bishop when she left America to live and write in Rio de Janeiro, where she would fall in love with well-off architect Lota de Macedo Soares.

Saturday, May 20, 6pm: Cabaret (PG)
With Hitler rising to power and anti-Semitism growing, inside the Kit Kat Club of 1931 Berlin, starry-eyed singer Sally Bowles and an impish emcee sound the clarion call to decadent fun.

Sunday, May 21, 12:30pm: Lady Valor (NR)
Former U.S. Navy SEAL Christopher Beck embarks on a new mission as Kristin Beck. After a lifetime of service, Kristin has learned that her fight for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness did not end on the battlefield.

Sunday, May 21, 2:30pm: Moonlight (R)
A young black man struggles to find his place in the world while growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami. Golden Globe Best Motion Picture Drama, SAG Award and three Academy Awards including Best Picture.
