Fine Free Week
Do you have overdue materials from Norfolk Public Library (NPL)? Feeling a little embarrassed that you
misplaced your library card? Fear no more! NPL is waiving current fines as well as the lost card fee from Friday, July 7 through Saturday, July 15 as we welcome Thinking Money: A Financial Expedition to Slover Library.
NPL will waive fines and fees on any overdue materials returned during this time period. The lost library card fee will also be waived. NPL asks that a donation of a new school supply item be made in return, but this is not required. Fines and imposed fees will not be waived for lost or damaged materials or collection fees on lost items.
This fine free week is part of Thinking Money: A Financial Expedition, a traveling exhibition about saving, spending, avoiding fraud and teaching how to navigate the ever-changing world of personal finance. The exhibit will be housed at Slover Library from July 7 through August 16 and was developed by the American Library Association Public Programs Office in collaboration with the FINRA Investor Education Foundation. A complete list of exhibit-related events, along with more information on Fine Free Week, is available on the Norfolk Public Library website.
The last fine free opportunity was held in September of 2011 and included the return of a long-overdue book, “Butterflies Are Free,” that was checked out in 1986.
