NPL Welcomes New Slover Library Executive Director

NORFOLK, VA – City Manager Doug Smith is pleased to announce Lynn Clements has accepted the role as Executive Director of Slover Library. Lynn comes to Norfolk from Virginia Beach where she served as the Director of Aquarium and Museums for more than 15 years.
"Lynn brings a tremendous amount of expertise and we are thrilled to welcome her to Team Norfolk and Slover Library," says Doug Smith, City Manager. "Slover is a nationally-recognized destination for community engagement, learning and history. Lynn has a rare combination of experience in organizational leadership, education and an intimate knowledge of the Hampton Roads community. All these assets make her the right person to oversee the amazing asset that is Slover Library."
Lynn previously served as the Chief Executive Officer Virginia Aquarium & Marine Center and its Foundation. Not only did she oversee the aquarium and its 664,000 visitors annually, she also oversaw the operations of 4 historic house museums and the African American museum. Membership and donations grew under her tenure.
Lynn's experience includes working with outside agencies to grow volunteer opportunities, diversify engagement across all age groups and oversee two multi-million dollar capital campaigns.
Throughout her career, Lynn has served in various professional organizations including Association of Zoo & Aquariums, Association of Fundraising Professionals, National Arts Strategies Chief Executive Program, Tidewater Community College board and Old Dominion University Science Advisory Board.
