TREK for Civility Week at NPL
Join us for a variety of films, performances and Storytimes that focus on building tolerance, respect, empathy and kindness (TREK) in our surrounding community as we kick off Norfolk Public Library's (NPL) initiative, TREK for Civility.
TREK for Civility encourages NPL staff and the community to choose courtesy and consideration at every opportunity when interacting with others. This library initiative is inspired by the book “Choosing Civility: The 25 Rules of Considerate Conduct” by Johns Hopkins University Professor Dr. P.M. Forni, and the national campaign, Choose Civility, led by the Howard County (Md.) Library System.
NPL’s TREK for Civility week will take place January 18 – 26, during which free events that explore the concepts of civility will be open to the public. A few of these events are listed below, and a full schedule of events as well as booklists for children, tweens/teens, and adults are available at all NPL locations and online. For more information about TREK for Civility Week, go to www.npl.lib.va.us/TREK.
