"Genealogical Gems: Hiding in Plain Sight"

Presented by Virginia Genealogical Society, Virginia Beach Genealogical Society, and Sargeant Memorial Collection - Slover Library

It will cover two days: Friday, October 27th and Saturday, October 28th.

Friday, October 27 will be “Library Day” with free classes and there will be experts on hand to help you scale your genealogical “brick walls.”   We will also offer free scanning classes throughout the day.  Space in those classes will be limited and first come, first serve.  There will be a reception from 6-8pm for VGS and VBGS board members, Slover Library representatives, and conference attendees.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I just register for one day of the conference?

Yes.. If you want to only attend the events on Friday, then you only register for that day.  Visa versa for Saturday.   Main thing is that you just need to register (preferably before Sept 17th!).

Do you have wireless internet on-site?

Yes… we do and you are welcome to use it even if you are from out of town.  There is a simple login that library staff can provide to you.

Do you have to have a NPL library card to access the collection?

No…  You don’t need a card to access our physical holdings and you can access our databases for free through our WiFi within the building.   However, if you want to use our public computers or our photo quality scanners in SMC, then you will need a NPL library card or a NPL internet only card.    If you live out of state, you can still get a NPL Internet only card.
